Celebrations and special occasions often lead to drinking. Unless we have a pre-planned arrangement to get home safely, driving ourselves home after drinking can easily become a routine activity more often than we give it credit. A young man in the early years of his marriage to a professional sports team dancer shared an experience of his fast decisions on the fly that placed his family at jeopardy without ever even considering the consequences.
One cold winter weekday night in mid-December, he was picking up his spouse from dance practice at a popular downtown hotel. His wife got into the car and said, “Hey, all the girls and my coaches are going around the corner for dinner, and they don’t get together too often outside of practice. Would you like to go?” “Sure,” he said. “Why not?”
So, they drove around the corner to the restaurant and bar, parked, and went inside. When they went in and were seated, the young man was pleasantly surprised to be in the company of many of the NBA players, coaches, dance team members, and the company of the owner and general manager of a well-respected professional basketball franchise.
Now, at the time, he was in mid-season himself, playing basketball for another professional club outside of the U.S., but home for the holidays. The young man was not one to regularly consume alcohol, but when the team’s general manager and top NBA executives offered him a shot of Grey Goose Vodka, it would behoove him to say, “Sure, I’ll have a drink. Thanks!”
When he sat at the table and drank with his wife and her colleagues, never once did he think about driving back home in the snow 20 miles away. He had his family in jeopardy in those moments; neither she nor the young athlete considered the consequences. This one night was not the first, nor the last, but it became a distant memory of everything he did wrong in his 20's and an alert that he would learn that it does not serve any of us to be oblivious to small decisions that can have a life-altering impact.
This is just one example of being young, free, and enjoying life’s fulfillment's. Through these stories and scenarios, we will now have a better understanding of the importance of safety and decision-making.

Good read! I’m a big advocate for not drinking and driving and I’m always yelling at my friends who do like a mom. It’s not worth it to risk your life or the lives of others and there are severe consequences! This book gives me some good solid facts to give them that can hopefully convince them to give up the bad habit. It’s a reasonably short read too so I’m hoping I can get them to read it themselves because I feel it’s very eye opening and good for honestly anyone and everyone to read.Product details

A good factual resource to help those that may make the decision to drink alchohol & drive.
Great read. Very informative and helpful to me as well as others I know that tend to go out and get too lively sometimes lol. I would suggest this to my friends and anyone who sometimes gets lost in the life and times.
I purchased this for a friend of mine who had recently received a DUI. I decided to read it myself and am glad I did. Super informative, easy read and a wake up call for sure. I will never have a drive with any alcohol in my system again.
This book allowed me to see the perspectives of individuals that have undergone various situations with alcohol, and the important call we must make if we encounter this. As a person who will soon enter the legal drinking age, it is critical to read such a book because it opens the eyes of what becoming an adult is. It is not all fun and games once you are able to drink alcohol legally, but you are also accountable for the consequences for your actions.
Usually I am not the person giving 5 stars to a book, but this one deserves it! As a woman in my twenties who is a social drinker, the stories in this book have had a great impact on me, and made me re-think choices and decisions from the past. A must-read for anyone, not just drinkers, but also for people who are close to those who casually get into the car after a few drinks.
This was a really amazing read! I would recommend this to anyone, but especially to those of you who feel strongly about the importance of not driving under the influence or have been effected by this topic in any way. Very impactful!
This book is very informative. I strongly recommend it to emigrant settling in United States. Though some of us maybe ignorant of the law there are yet consequences. Educate yourself about the law of the land, you owe it to yourself. And for the good kids who were brought up in a very sheltered environment, Whatever the case may be, it doesn't hurt to educate yourself. This book is an eye opener, it's like the saying , " the more you know the further you go". So educate yourself! it likes having wrings.
